Pesara pappu / moong dal snack


Ingredients :

Pesara pappu / moong dal : 1 cup
Green chilli : 1
dry red chilli : 1
mustard seeds : 1/2 tsp
cumin : 1/2 tsp
curry leaves : few
fresh grated coconut : 1 tbsp
salt : as per requirement
oil : 1 tsp
turmeric : a pinch
lemon juice : 1/2 tsp


Wash and soak the pesara pappu (uncovered split moong dal) for about 2 hours. Drain and place on a paper towel to remove out the excess moisture. Now in a bowl mix in the dal, coconut and salt.

Now heat the oil in a small pan and add the mustard seeds and let them crackle. Add the cumin seeds, green chillies, red chilli, curry leaves and turmeric and pour it over the dal adding lemon juice and mixing well.

Serve as an evening snack. Very nutritious and healthy snack.
