Ingredients:
Rice crisps : 4 cups
oil :1 tbsp
Onion : 1 (small)
green chillies: 2
Chana dal : 2 tsp
urad dal : 2 tsp
ginger garlic paste ; 1/2 tsp
corriander powder : 1/2 tsp
cumin powder : 1/4 tsp
curry leaves : few
Dry red chillies : 4
Peanuts: 2 tbsp
Putana (Dhalia) : 2 tbsp
Turmeric : 1/4 tsp
mustard seeds : 1/2 tsp
cumin seeds: 1/2 tsp
salt : as per taste
sugar (optional)1/4 tsp
Cut the onion into long thin slices as we do for doing pakodis. Chop the green chillies also in to very small pieces. Take a large nonstick pan and pour the oil. Let it heat then add the mustard seeds and allow them to splutter. Next add in the chana dal, urad dal, cumin seeds, peanuts and green chillies. Mix them so that they do not over burn. Now add in the dry red chillies, curry leaves and putana. Keep mixing and add the onions. Let them become brown in color, then add the corriander and cumin powder. Also add the ginger garlic paste. keep mixing. Now add the turmeric and salt. (u can use a pinch of black/rock salt if u like). Add in the sugar(optional) also if u like.
Slow down the flame and start adding the rice crisps mixing them so that they are coated well with all the other ingredients. Keep an eye on the rice crisps as they tend to burn out quickly. Switch off the stove as soon as the rice crisps become warm.
Serve hot as an evening snack along with tea.
Can increase the hotness by adding more green chillies.
nice creative use of rice crips
